If you are lucky enough to find yourself in Berlin this winter and are interested in immersing yourself in Berlin’s unique culture, here are a few festivals/events to check out:

Christkindlmarkets/Christmas Markets
Throughout the month of December, Christmas markets pop up all around the city. Come of the largest and most established Christmas markets include: the Charlottenburg Castle Christmas Market, the Gendarmenmarkt Christmas Market, the Potsdamer Platz Christmas Market, the Spandau Christmas Market, and the Kaiser-Wilhelm Memorial Church Christmas Market. In 2013, foodies will converge on Berlin from January 18th-27th (the festival always takes place for ten days in the middle of January). Food growers, chefs, and wine and beer producers gather in Charlottenburg for ten days of sheer gastronomic bliss. In addition to the expo, there are a variety of tastings, dinners, classes and workshops associated with the event.
