I first visited Milan on my way to a writing conference in Lugano, Switzerland. On that trip, Milan was a city that I \u201cpassed through\u201d twice on my way to and from the airport. Although I didn\u2019t get to experience much of Milan, I could sense that it was a place I needed to get to know better. When I finally did several years later, I absolutely fell in love. In addition to experiencing the fantastic restaurants and high-end fashion boutiques, there are a variety of unforgettable sights you must see during your time in Milan.<\/p>\n
La Scala<\/a> Castello Sforzesco<\/a>
\nThe La Scala opera house is located at the end of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in the stunning Scala Square. Once one of the most celebrated opera houses in the world, La Scala it has hosted the debuts of many of Italy\u2019s most famous musicians and composers, including Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Gioachino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Vincenzo Bellini, and Arturo Toscanini.<\/p>\n
\nThe beautiful and historic Castello Sforzesco is a castle that was originally built in the 14th century.\u00a0 During the bombardment of Milan during World War II, the castle was badly damaged. It was reconstructed in the 1950s with the intention of turning it into a museum. Today, the castle houses some of Italy\u2019s most cherished artistic treasures.<\/p>\n
