Named after the Florida Keys, this creamy delight holds the title of official state dessert of Florida. Here\u2019s what you need to bring this sweet-and-tangy treat to your dessert table.<br \/>\n<strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 cup slivered almonds, toasted, divided (I only toasted the ones used as a garnish)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup butter, melted<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon honey<\/li>\n<li>1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk<\/li>\n<li>1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened, divided<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup key lime juice<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon grated key lime peel (zest)<\/li>\n<li>Dash salt<\/li>\n<li>1 egg yolk<\/li>\n<li>1 3\/4 cups miniature marshmallows<\/li>\n<li>4 1\/2 teaspoons butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup heavy whipping cream<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nDirections:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Combine the flour, brown sugar and 1\/2 cup almonds in a food processor.\u00a0 Process until well blended.\u00a0 Add melted butter and honey and pulse until the mixture crumbly but holds together if pinched.\u00a0 Press mixture onto the bottom and up the sides of a greased 9-inch pie plate.\u00a0 Bake for 8 minutes at 350 degrees.\u00a0 Cool on a rack while preparing the lime filling.<\/li>\n<li>In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, 5 ounces of cream cheese, lime juice, lime zest, salt and egg yolk.\u00a0 Beat on low speed until combined.\u00a0 Bake for 15-20 minutes or until center is almost set.\u00a0 Cool on a rack, then refrigerate.<\/li>\n<li>In a small deep mixing bowl, combine the marshmallows and butter.\u00a0 Microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds.\u00a0 Stir and repeat until mixture is completely melted.\u00a0 Add remaining 3 ounces of cream cheese and whipping cream.\u00a0 Beat until smooth.\u00a0 Cover and refrigerate until chilled.<\/li>\n<li>Beat marshmallow mixture until light and fluffy.\u00a0 Spread over pie; sprinkle with remaining toasted almonds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.savingdessert.com\/2011\/06\/pie-no-23-marshmallow-almond-key-lime.html \" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Recipe and photo by Tricia Buice<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sunshine State has been satisfying its sweet tooth with Key Lime Pie since the late 19th century.
