During my last trip to Los Angeles<\/a>, I had the pleasure of wandering around Atwater Village for an afternoon. This diverse and exciting neighborhood has a lot to offer locals and tourists. Here are my suggestions for how to spend a highly sensory afternoon in Atwater Village.

\nHave lunch at Momed<\/a>. <\/strong>This \u201cmodern Mediterranean\u201d caf\u00e9, with locations in both Beverly Hills and Atwater, offers a variety of tempting mezzes (spreads and shared dishes) that make for a perfect midday meal. If you\u2019re in the mood for something hardier, order one of their satisfying sandwiches (the falafel was delicious). Grab a seat in the innovative indoor\/outdoor eating space and settle in for an enjoyable casual dining experience.

\nVisit Kneeland Mercado<\/a>.<\/strong> When you\u2019re done with lunch at Momed, head down the hallway to Joanna Williams\u2019s Kneeland Mercado, where she sells unique handmade and vintage art, accessories, clothing and homegoods sourced from her travels all over the world. My favorite find was a Brutalist brass cuff bracelet from Mexico.<\/p>\n

Shop unique goods at Individual Medley<\/a>. <\/strong>This beautifully curated shop includes a variety of vintage and small-batch designer items for men, women, children and home. My favorite finds included geometric coasters from sculptor B Zippy and a hand-dyed indigo scarf depicting the phases of the moon by BPMC.

\nGo for a stroll in North Atwater Park<\/a>.<\/strong> Officially part of the expansive Griffith Park, North Atwater is a hidden gem of a park with spots for picnicking, lounging, or walking. There\u2019s a nice children\u2019s play area if you\u2019re traveling with the family.

\nGrab a cup of java at Kaldi<\/a>. <\/strong>Kaldi is equal parts contemporary and welcoming. Not only is their coffee and baked goods delicious (I highly recommend the lemon bars), they also host engaging community events in their back patio space.
