But for much of its history, this iconic little Soho lane running between equally iconic Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus has been just as (or more) celebrated for its ties to popular music as its connections to the world of fashion.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222; font-family: arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12.7273px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px; margin-bottom: 0cm; background-color: #ffffff;\">\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffffff; font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0Now, a new walking tour with free downloadable app called\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial;\">Carnaby<\/span>\u00a0Echoes offers shoppers and anybody else in the area the chance to trace\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial;\">Carnaby<\/span>&#8216;s vibrant music history from the early days of Murray\u2019s Club, a jazz and cabaret club that opened in 1913 on nearby Beak Street, through to the present.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The app brings to life the stories, sounds and performances for audiences as these audio files get activated the content while strolling around\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial;\">Carnaby<\/span>, walking in the same footsteps left over a hundred years by some of London&#8217;s most important music pioneers.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffffff; font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial;\">Carnaby<\/span>\u00a0Echoes is a commissioned work by artist Lucy Harrison, who bought back musicians connected to the area to talk about their memories. Contributors include Boy George, Pete Townshend, Mark Ellen, Lloyd Coxsone and Dynamo. Often people didn\u2019t even buy anything, they just walked around looking amazing. It\u2019s a perfect area, because you\u2019ve got a really good space, lots of back\u00a0<\/em>streets<em>, you go to Newburgh Street and then Ganton Street, and then do the whole of\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial;\">Carnaby<\/span>\u00a0Street, and everyone would see you.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em>For decades,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #222222; background-image: initial; background-repeat: initial;\">Carnaby<\/span>\u00a0was the home and inspiration of many music styles, including jazz, reggae, rhythm and blues, rock and hip hop.
