{"id":937308,"date":"2011-04-26T14:32:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-26T14:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.onetravel.com\/travel-trends\/american-airlines-applies-for-more-miami-brazil-flights\/"},"modified":"2019-08-21T07:21:35","modified_gmt":"2019-08-21T11:21:35","slug":"american-airlines-applies-for-more-miami-brazil-flights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onetravel.com\/going-places\/american-airlines-applies-for-more-miami-brazil-flights\/","title":{"rendered":"American Airlines Applies for More Miami-Brazil Flights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onetravel.com\/airlines\/american-airlines-aa\" target=\"_blank\">American Airlines<\/a> has filed an application with the Department of Transportation to add 10 more flights between Miami and Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The request is part of the airline\u2019s phase-in process for the Open Skies Agreement signed by US President Barack Obama during his visit to Brazil in March.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under that agreement, US carriers will be able to bypass the DOT and fill slots in Brazil as they become available, but not until 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Leading up to Open Skies, a large number of additional weekly frequencies are being phased in,\u2019\u2019 said Martha Pantin, an American spokeswoman.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The airline wishes to increase flights on both of the existing Miami\u2013Brasilia and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onetravel.com\/cheap-flights\/miami-mia-florida-deals\" target=\"_blank\">Miami<\/a>\u2013Belo Horizonte routes from four times per week to daily.
