\u201cThe Rock,\u201d a highly anticipated and often-delayed museum exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, may finally be gaining traction\u2026literally.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The centerpiece of the display, an enormous 340-ton boulder was supposed to begin its 60-mile journey to the museum back in August. However, due to a myriad of setbacks, which varied from permit problems to issues establishing the safest route, the rock hasn\u2019t budged.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But according to a new report from the New York Times<\/a>, the rock should finally <\/em>be on the move by Tuesday night. Its new route will take it on an 11-day journey through four counties and 22 cities.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To ease safety fears, the rock will only be on the move at night. If all goes as planned, the megalith will be united with a 456-foot concrete slot which has been waiting for it at the museum in a little under two weeks. The piece is titled \u201cLevitated Mass,\u201d and is the work of California sculptor Michael Heizer.<\/p>\n
