\u201cSpider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,\u201d the highly-criticized Broadway musical has shaken off its more-than-rough start to close out 2011 on a high note.<\/p>\n

According to a report in Business Week, \u201cSpider-Man\u201d shattered a Broadway record by raking in over $2.9 million in ticket sales for the final week of the year.<\/p>\n

That one-week total represents the most ever for Broadway. The previous record for single-week sales was $2.2 million, set by “Wicked” back in 2010.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Many Broadway productions added extra shows over the holidays to take advantage of the swelling hoards of tourists visiting New York City<\/a>. \u201cSpider-Man,\u201d which plays in the enormous Foxwoods Theater, benefitted most from the holiday surge.<\/p>\n
