The peninsula of Qatar extends into the Persian Gulf, bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south. Although small, the country offers plenty to interest its visitors. Doha is the capital city of Qatar and is a vibrant town with beaches and markets. As opposed to the typical image of a rich Arab Gulf state, Qatar and its capital Doha are relatively modern. The country has a warm climate throughout the year, because of fierce heat in summer; the best time to visit is November or late February to early March, when the temperature is much milder.
Tourists visiting Doha can spend some quality time at Doha Corniche, a palm-fringed public promenade that extends along the seafront, lined with five and six-star resort hotels, restaurants, shops and beaches. Khor Al Udeid Sea in the extreme south-east of the country is of great natural beauty. This a large area with stunning sand dunes formed by the prevailing winds. There are also several forts in Qatar offering an insight into the country’s past. These include; Marroub Fort, Al-Ghuwair Castle, Al-Zubarah, Al-Jassasiya and Barzan Tower. Qatar offers plenty of family oriented destinations like Palm Tree Island with swimming pools, gardens, restaurants and cafes.
