Zoom Airlines
Zoom Airlines (Z4) was a Canadian low-cost carrier based in Ottawa, Ontario and operated scheduled services to Europe. The airline also offered charter services to destinations in South America, Caribbean and Southern United States. Founded in May 2002 as a low-fare transatlantic airline, Zoom Airline was a venture of two Scottish brothers, John and Hugh Boyle. In November 2006, Zoom Airlines entered a codeshare agreement with Flyglobespan.com and was then operating two of three weekly Manchester to Toronto Flyglobespan flights. Zoom flights from Toronto to Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow, London Gatwick, London Stansted and Manchester were available for booking on the Flyglobespan website. On 28 August 2008, Zoom Airlines' Boeing 757 aircraft was held at Glasgow International Airport because of the airline's financial difficulties. Shortly afterwards, the airline announced that it has filed for administration under the Canadian Companies Creditors Arrangement Act and that it was ceasing operations owing to hike in the aviation fuel prices.
