Mexicana Airlines Flight
Once one of the best airlines in Latin America, Mexicana Airlines (MX) had been serving travelers to and from Mexico since 1921. Based in Mexico City, Mexicana Airlines had operated flight services to more than 49 destinations across the North, Central and South America, plus the Caribbean. Mexicana’s top destinations included Montreal, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, San Jose, Miami, Los Angeles, San Jose and Havana.
As Mexico’s oldest airline, Mexicana Airlines had its main hub in Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport, with secondary hubs in Cancun International Airport and Guadalajara’s Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport. It joined the prestigious Star Alliance network in 2000 and created two low cost airline sub-brands in 2005. With a fleet of 109 airplanes, the Mexicana group of airlines flew around 11 million passengers in 2009 and was poised to grow.
Due to high labor costs, Mexicana Airlines filed for bankruptcy August 4, 2010. It has suspended all 31 flights running between Mexico and the U.S.
