ATA Airlines
ATA Airlines (TZ) was a renowned low-cost and charter airlines in the US. Based in Indianapolis, ATA operated scheduled passenger flights throughout the US mainland and Hawaii. Established in August 1973, ATA began operations as charter carrier in 1981. In 1990, the airline started scheduled service from New York Kennedy to Belfast continuing to Riga, Latvia. By the mid-1990, ATA main focus shifted towards offering scheduled services. In 2000, ATA along with Chicago Express started ATA Connection for linking regional mid-western cities with ATA's Chicago hub and Indianapolis focus city. In October 2004, ATA Holdings and its subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Following years, ATA made persistent efforts to return to profitability but was unable to recover and finally ended operations on April 2, 2008.
