Reaching its zenith by being Chile's third biggest airline in 2007, Aerolineas Del Sur (3I) was based in Santiago International Airport with a fleet of 3 Boeing 737-200s. This airline started its overall operations at the end of 2004 after getting a go-ahead signal from the Chilean civil aviation authorities and used to fly to the domestic locations of Puerto Mont and Punta Arenas.

Aerolineas Del Sur was renamed as Air Comet Chile in 2007 where it had a robust business at that time. As the airline market crumbled in 2008, this airline incurred heavy financial losses and finally filed for bankruptcy protection on December 18, 2008.
