Aero California
A privately owned airline, Aero California (JR) was a La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico based airline which started as an air taxi in 1960. The airline was then based at La Paz, Baja California Sur with the name of Servicios Aereos. By 1982, the airline started scheduled services between La Paz, Tijuana and Hermosillo. In 1989, the airline initiated international scheduled service between Los Angeles and La Paz, Loreto and Los Cabos. By 1995, the airline's fleet was upgraded with Douglas DC-9-14/15 jets. In the spring of 2006, Aero California suspended all operations for what are still relatively unknown reasons but, in August the same year, the airline again resumed services on some of its route.
Aero California was suspended again by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Mexico on July 23, 2008. The reason given was an alleged debt with the Mexican Air Traffic Control (SENEAM), of approximately $25,900,000 USCy. The airline served 17 destinations in Mexico when it was grounded in July 2008.
