Top Attractions in Oita

One of Oita’s most glorified attractions, Hells or Jigoku as locals call it is a gathering of hot springs. At this place hot water bubbles out from earth naturally. These hot springs have been converted into amusement parks with each following a different theme.

The Oita City Museum features two parts- theme exhibition and permanent exhibition. The permanent collection features over 1800 modern Japanese paintings calligraphic painting from Bungo and a lot more. The theme exhibition organizes shows of about 20 different themes.

Built in 827 A.D., the Yusuhara Hachiman Shrine holds a great religious significance for imperial and samurai families. Inside its caves you will find gorgeous images of dragons, flowers, birds and fish carved on walls.
