Varig Airlines Flights!

Varig (RG) was Brazil's first airline and also its lone international carrier till the year 1990. Founded in 1927, the airline was headquartered in Porto Alegre and had its operating base located at Rio de Janeiro Galeao International Airport. The airline operated scheduled domestic and international flights across Europe, Asia, Africa, Central America, North America, South America and the Caribbean, and covered more than 100 destinations worldwide. Some of the famous travel destinations that the airline flew to were Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Milan, Madrid, San Jose, Lagos and many more.

In May 2005, the airline reported a debt of US$2 billion and submitted its application to the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Court to start the proceedings for judicial reorganization. After all the attempts to auction the airline failed, the court decided to split Varig into two separate entities called New Varig and Old Varig. While New Varig was integrated into the famous Go! Airlines, Old Varig had to cease its operations in 2006 soon after the split.
