Alitalia offers five ways of check-in: web check-in, mobile check-in, fast check-in, tele check-in and check-in desks. Passengers are also requested to check-in early so that they can go past the security and baggage checks without any problem. Web & Mobile Check-In: Log on to www.alitalia.com and use the web check-in facility to save the effort of standing in long queues at the airport. Whether you are in your office or home, you can check-in from anywhere, all you need is an internet connection. The facility is available 24 hours a day and is fast, comfortable and efficient. The Mobile Check-In option is available for European destinations and major Italian airports. Check-in from your internet enabled mobile phone and receive instant confirmation as well as a link to your barcode enabled boarding pass.
Fast Check-In: Airport Kiosks is one of the fastest ways of performing check-in. Just select your flight on the screen and choose the seat of your choice out of those available. Once you are done, print the boarding pass and you are ready to go.
Tele Check-In: This facility is available for members of Mille Miglia only and is available only on select routes. After performing tele check-in, passengers are required to pick their boarding pass from the Alitalia Lounge at least an hour before the flight's scheduled departure time.
Check-In Desks: It's the oldest way of check-in and is still used extensively. Passengers can check-in at the Alitalia Airlines desk at the airport and get their boarding pass from the airline's representative. The staff is friendly and is ready to resolve any concern with a smile.
Customer Rewards Programs and Perks

Mille Miglia: Whether you are flying with Alitalia, shopping at a store or getting gas filled in your vehicle, you can earn numerous rewards with the Mille Miglia Program. Here's how it works, whenever you fly with the airline you get qualifying miles depending on the class of travel and also the total distance covered. You can also earn these miles for using the services of the airline's 30 partners (car rental agencies, shopping stores etc), the amount of miles earned depending on the nature of the purchase. Passengers can then redeem these qualifying miles for exciting rewards like access to premium lounges, priority check-in, air tickets and much more. After accumulating 20,000 qualifying miles in a year, you get access to the Ulisse Club, after accumulating 50,000 qualifying miles/year, you get access to the Freccia Alata Club, after 80,000 miles/year, you get access to the Freccia Alata Plus Club.
Alitalia maintains separate rules for Carry On, Checked and Excess baggage. Make sure you go through these guidelines in advance to avoid any hassles at the time of baggage check-in.
Carry On: Passengers are allowed to carry a hand baggage for free provided it doesn't weigh more than 8kg and has maximum dimensions of height 55cm, width 35cm, depth 25cm.
Checked: Business class passengers enjoy a free baggage limit of 32kg while economy class passengers enjoy a free baggage limit of 23kg. The baggage should not exceed the maximum dimension of 158cm.
Excess: If the weight of the baggage exceeds the 'free baggage limit', then it is counted as excess baggage. In case of excess baggage, you are charged a certain fee for every additional kilo that you carry.
Itinerary Modifications and Cancellations
In case of cancellation or rebooking, you should contact the customer care immediately. The sooner you cancel/rebook, the lesser the penalty is. In case of rebooking, you also have to pay the fare difference in addition to the penalty fees. If for any reason, you can't travel on your scheduled departure date, then your ticket would have no meaning.
•An infant below 2 years can travel for free if he is traveling on an adult's lap. Strollers are also allowed free of charge depending on the space left in the aircraft.
•For pets, you have to pay an extra amount which depends on the weight of the pet. Make sure you get your pet accustomed to a cage environment before the date of departure.
•For would-be moms and young kids, passengers can request special meals in advance.
